My HP is only a month old and each time I turn it on in DOS it says:
Check file system on C:
The type of the file system NTFS
Then it goes through its check and goes to desktop...sometimes it just freezes on me. Please help.
What does it mean when each time I turn my computer it says...check file system on c?
Your boot sector could be "dirty" or contain malware. I would recommend that you join one of the tech groups below and ask in their hardware section. They are all excellent forums and the support is free. The techs can walk you through with step-by-step instructions.

Reply:you're welcome and good luck Report It
Reply:Its trying to do a Scandisk. Windows XP will do that on mine about every month. I recommend running a defrag. There is no DOS in NTFS so your running XP or Vista. Check out Scheduled Tasks and make its running a Scandisk on each boot up. If you are running Norton Utilities that will run a Scandisk in its Scheduler.
