each time I turn my computer it says...check file system on c!


%26amp; after checking the file system it says "found no problem"





is this a serious problem...if so then how can i solve it?


my operating system is "windows xp-service pack 2

That usually means that you did not shut down your computer properly, or that Windows is just not shutting down properly. Technically, its not really a problem, and it will most likely never find a problem with the C: drive.


You will only ever really have an error if like, your computer is running and the power goes out. That could mess up your hard drive, because of the sudden power change, and also, Windows won't have time to shut down properly. You can try putting your system in hibernation, or on standby (or sleep) if the problem is too annoying.

Reply:Yes because of the nature of Windows XP keeps telling you to check the drive. How old is the computer's hard drive because maybe it is failing. The newer HD's made these days last about 3 years and some brands do not last that long. I would run cmd and type in chkdsk /f and restart the Windows to see if that repairs what ever is telling Windows to suspect a bad format. I would make backups of my important files as fast as possible. If the format fails nothing will be recoverable and I have had a lot of Maxtor HD's fail with no advance notice but that's another story ( they were OEM in Gateway computers )
