I am using Vista in my laptop. Why I am not able to save any file in C Drive. I have tried in Excel, Word?

I have tried to save files in sub directories. It works. But not able to save directly to c drive.

I assume that the root drive is protected and you might need to change the security settings. Right click on your C: drive and see whether a security TAB exists and what kind of options are available. General speaking you should AVOID saving to the root directory [this behavior is in order to virus protect your boot files].
Reply:how can you directly save you have to save it in a sub directory like "my documents".
