A message that says the program file C/programs new dot new dot could not load and then shuts down. help!!?

Did you mean newdot.dll? This is part of 3rd party software your computer may have "aquired" at some point. NewDotNet, the makers of that software claim it to be a harmless, and in cases I've seen where it has had issues its mostly been that its stops the internet working properly (it attempts to alter the way DNS, the internet's domain name lookup service functions, so if it is corrupted DNS lookups may no longer function correctly either).

The way it is distributed though has caused it an ill-reputation in many circles. It has been likened to spyware by covertly installing on a users PC without their knowledge or consent. Your security software may have treated it as a kind of malware and removed it hence your error message.

I fear the shutting down of your PC is due though to other malware that may have snuck though the same hole that newdot did, and yet did not get picked up by your security software. Or another file being removed or quarentined, that while infected, was needed to run Windows.

You could reinstall windows after backing up(try booting to safemode for this or from a recovery disc such as knoppix), or running hijackthis(http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/... and posting the results on a message board for further advise.
